Our first stop will be at Giza, Egypt. In midst of the atrocious desert heat, stands the only standing Wonder of the World. Though there were three pyramids, only the biggest and grandest one stands. The other two can be seen, but one would just find the base standing of the pyramids. Built around 2584-2561 B.C. by the Pharaoh Khufu, it stood for his ultimate destined resting spot in the Afterlife. In essence, Khufu made this pyramid as his burial tomb.As we look at Egyptain mythology, we know that all of the Egyptians believed that the Afterlife was the ultimate resting stop and ultimate paradise throughout their life. We know that many of the people wanted to be buried with all of their life long possesions because as we also know, they wanted to carry out all of their possesions to the Afterlife. As many researchers and scientists have opened up various tombs, they have viewed what many people brought. Here, at this website, take a tour inside a real Egyptian tomb: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/pyramid/explore/khufuunflo.html Even better, this virtual tour of the tomb is that of Pharaoh Khufu. Many poor people couldn't afford a nice resting spot, and had little possesions. They had the most vulnerable tomb for tomb raiders because their tombs were easy to find and easy to break into. Many middle class families had enough money and had a good plot and a nice amount of items to place in their tombs. They were moderatley robbed and many of their possesions are still show cased around the world. While with the higher class and the Pharaoh's, thier tombs looked like Khufu's and huge monuments, they had an endless amount of treasures. Looking at the many hyroglphics inside the burial tombs, they showed what life each and every Egyptian person had. The best images showed the endless luxury items that were being shipped from all over the world. In one drawing, it showed tons and tons of exotic animals from Africa, and boxes of silk and birds from China. As a royal family member, you were very lucky to live a life filled with endless amounts of treasure and fabulous gifts from other royal families around the country. Think that if you were Pharaoh, how would you want to design your own tomb?Think of what you would want to take inside your own tomb, like the Egyptians would. Alos, think, that any type of tomb could get robebed. As well as making a nice furnished tomb, think of a sort of trap that would stop robbers from getting all of your valuable possesions. It was said that Khufu took tons and tons of gold and treasure. Share with others what you would love to take inside! Think of all of your treasures you hold dear to your heart now and why you would take that item with you into the tomb.
